During the University of Colorado at Boulder’s academic year, the Media Archaeology Lab holds open house hours where all members of the campus and the general public are welcome to visit. Feel free to stop in individually or with a group to view what is on display, use the machines, do research, or have a tour. Please feel free to email us if you’d like to make an appointment for group visit to the MAL. During the fall 2018 semester, we are open during the hours listed below:
Mondays: 9am-12.30pm (Laura)
Tuesdays: 12-4pm (libi)
Wednesdays: 9am-12pm (libi) and 12:30-4:30pm (Autumn)
Thursdays: 12-4pm (Amanda)
Fridays: 12-3pm (Chris and Eric)
If you can’t visit the MAL in person, you can always take a tour of the MAL by playing this text adventure game, called “A MAL Mystery,”created by Amanda Hurtado and Matt Black. The game takes place in a not-so-distant future when technology has become so black boxed that people now believe in the mystical and magical instead of the mechanical and technological origins of computer technology…But a rogue trip to the forbidden zone reveals the forgotten secrets hidden in the Media Archeology Lab…
Finally, if you’d like to keep up with MAL events and news, sign up for our mailing list and/or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
