The MAL launched its residency series in 2013. Now, MAL projects include a recurring lecture series called MALfunction, teaching experiments, and a series of technical reports called MALware. MAL projects also include exhibitions and outreach events both on and off campus.
The MAL is valuable for its collection of still-functioning media which are meant to be played with, opened up, and experimented with. These residencies and projects continue to establish the MAL as a flexible, porous, non-hierarchical space for hands-on research of all kinds. If you are interested in a residency or event at the MAL, please contact our curator, Maya Livio.
