During the University of Colorado at Boulder’s academic year, the Media Archaeology Lab holds open house hours where all members of the campus and the general public are welcome to visit. Feel free to stop in individually to view what is on display, use the machines, do research, make something, or have a tour. We strongly encourage individuals or groups to email us ahead of time to make an appointment during open house hours.
We will be closed over CU Boulder’s Spring Break – March 25-29 – and will re-open on Monday April 1. See you then!
Our open house hours for spring semester are:
Mondays: 1pm to 4pm
Tuesdays: 10am to 3pm
Wednesdays: 9am to 4pm
Thursdays: 9am to 4pm
Fridays: 10am to 3pm
If you can’t visit the MAL in person, you can always take a tour of the MAL by playing “A MAL Mystery“. This text-adventure was created by Amanda Hurtado and Matt Black. The game takes place in a not-so-distant future when technology has become so black boxed that people now believe in the mystical and magical instead of the mechanical and technological origins of computer technology…But a rogue trip to the forbidden zone reveals the forgotten secrets hidden in the Media Archeology Lab…
