To celebrate the exhibition of First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare at the CU Art Museum, the museum is proud to present a companion exhibition, “Mysterium Tremendum: Collecting Curiosity,” which will explore curiosity and wonder at play in the production of knowledge and art from Shakespeare’s time to today. Happily, the exhibit includes a selection of magic lanterns, videogame consoles, and early personal computers from the Media Archaeology Lab.
The cabinet aims to demonstrate how today’s artistic and scientific productions are driven by curiosity and shaped by the experience of wonder, and draws from the work of contemporary artists paired with historic collections across campus. Please stop by the exhibit between August 8th and December 17th!
